All I Have Left

If I shout at you, Life
Will you hear me?

If I roar like the thunder
Of a midnight storm,
Fall to my knees
And stretch out my arms
And yell to the stars
Like no one before
"Don't you see!?
DON'T YOU SEE...
I can wish no more!"

If I unleash my sorrow
And cry all my tears
And say to the lightning,
"TAKE ME, I'M HERE"
Would you hear me
Oh, Life
If I were to claim
I could take no more
In the cold, bitter rain.

Am I asking too much,
If my question is this,
"May I have but a moment,
But a minute of bliss
For I've been traveling
This path,
This same old road...
And I look at them now;
At the tracks of my soul.

There are lashes of burdens
And lashes of lies
From the times I was whipped
By the tears I have cried.
You will see
There are scars
That have been here
So long
From the times
When I learned
That I had done wrong.

I've been stripped of my peace.
I've been torn apart,
And all I have left
Is the beat of my heart.
And the storm...
It is raging.
The times...
They are rough,
But the beat of my heart...
Let it be enough.

Let it be just enough...
JUST ENOUGH
I ask thee
With my arms all stretched out
And myself on my knees,

Just enough to whisper
One more solemn prayer...

"Lord,
Tomorrow holds hope.
Let me make it there."
